ABOUT BEIRNE LOVELY

This award was established in memory of F. Beirne Lovely, Jr., a longtime Milton resident who passed away in June 2020. Eternally selfless, Beirne was the physical manifestation of what it means to show up. A proud marine, Vietnam war hero, stalwart attorney, advocate for the underprivileged, community leader, and beloved family man, Beirne lived in service to others. In addition to being a founding member of the MFE, Beirne was instrumental in initiatives to build Milton’s new schools; he also served in various capacities within Milton, including as a member of the Warrant Committee, a Corporator at Milton Hospital, a Town Meeting member, President of the Milton High School Boosters, and Chair of the School Committee. He also coached innumerable youth basketball and baseball teams wherein he emphasized teamwork, effort, and individual improvement. So indelible was his impact on the Milton Public Schools that Beirne was presented with a pair of ‘reserved seats’ painted on the wall of the Milton High School fieldhouse in 2010.
